Overview

For her second book, celebrated style maker and interior designer Suzanne Rheinstein focuses on the design of rooms--from entries to outdoor spaces--that mix her relaxed elegant style with a sense of purpose. She shares her expertise on how to solve practical issues to create beautiful timeless spaces. This inspiring book will appeal to interiors lovers who bought Suzanne Kasler and Mario Buatta. Organized by room types, this masterful designer's second book reflects her unique philosophies on how to make each space in the house a haven. Innovative details, such as tucking clutter away in walls of cabinetry, and how to create spaces with fewer things that are thoughtfully chosen, are illustrated in the beautiful photography. Interior designer Suzanne Rheinstein is a master at taking traditional European style and spinning it into something fresh and elegant--she has a penchant for neo-classicism. In Rooms for Living, Rheinstein discusses the notion of the individuality of rooms--making each space the perfect fit for its intended function. Presented are welcoming rooms with distinct purposes--from entertaining and cooking to lolling and sleeping--each with its own point of view. Whether it is repurposing a neglected dining room or expanding the role of the kitchen to accommodate not only food prep but also informal meals, Rheinstein inspires readers to fashion spaces to suit today's lifestyle. This book features innovative ideas for each room, such as; how to display books in an understated way; making a quiet statement with an entryway by adding an exuberant painted floor; dressing up a bed for ultimate comfort and romance with silk bed curtains; and creating a luxurious master bathroom with an old-fashioned bateau bath. No small detail is overlooked in her inviting environments in tone-on-tone palettes of muted colors. Beautifully photographed, this inspiring volume is a must-have for design savvy individuals.
