Buro Happold is an international multidisciplinary engineering and consultancy practice with offices in Europe, the Middle and Far East, and the USA. Michael is a Visiting Professor of Engineering Design at Bath University, School of Architecture and Civil Engineering, and was President of the Institution of Structural Engineers in 2006. He continues as a consultant to Buro Happold and a trustee of BRE. Dave Parker, BSc, CEng, FICE, FRSA, FIQA, was Technical Editor of New Civil Engineer magazine for 12 years before leaving in May 2006 to become a freelance author and journalist. He is a former Visiting Professor of Civil Engineering at Queen’s University Belfast, and his interests include renewable energy and the history of construction.
