OverviewThe partial replacement of cement with Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS) significantly enhances the sustainability and performance of concrete. Concrete mixes containing GGBS exhibit improved long-term strength, reduced permeability, and better resistance to sulfate and chloride attacks, making them highly durable for aggressive environments. The early strength may be slightly lower compared to ordinary Portland cement (OPC) mixes, the long-term benefits in durability, economy, and environmental impact clearly outweigh this limitation. 1) It can be concluded that the use of GGBS as a partial replacement for cement can improve the strength and durability of concrete. 2) The concrete mixed with the different percentages of GGBS shows more workability than conventional concrete due to finely divided good quality of granulated particle shape of slag. 3) The concrete mixed with GGBS results in more compressive strength than conventional concrete due to the pozzolanic activities of GGBS. 4) At 40% replacement of cement by using GGBS gives best result. It Increases 3.28% More compressive strength than normal cube of concrete.
