He currently holds the position of Professor at the Central University of Rajasthan, where he has also served as Dean and Head of the Microbiology Department. His impressive career spans both industry and academia, including leadership roles in biobutanol innovation at Reliance Life Sciences, which led to several patented technologies. Prof. Verma has had international experience as a visiting scientist at the UFZ Centre for Environmental Research in Halle, Germany, and as a postdoctoral fellow at the ASCR in Prague, Göttingen University in Germany, and RISH at Kyoto University in Japan. His work in Japan and at Reliance Life Sciences resulted in numerous commercialized national and international patents. His research focuses on microbial diversity, bioremediation, bioprocess development, and biomass-based biorefineries. Prof. Verma has published over 125 research and review papers in scientific journals, contributed to more than 70 book chapters, and edited over 28 books. He has received numerous national fellowships and awards for his significant contributions to fungal microbiology and microalgal research, culminating in a total of 9,481 scholarly citations, an h-index of 51, and an i10-index of 122. He has also been recognized with prestigious accolades, such as the Ron-Cockcroft Award from the Swedish Society, and has held various fellowships, including UNESCO fellow, DFG fellow, JSPS postdoctoral fellow, and JSPS-Bridge Fellow.
