Author Information

Saffa Riffat holds the posts of Chair of Sustainable Energy and Head of Architecture, Climate and Environment Research Group at the University of Nottingham, UK. He is is also the President of the World Society of Sustainable Energy (WSSET). Professor Riffat has a wide range of experience of renewable energy/sustainable technologies, eco-cities/sustainable buildings, heat pumps/ cooling systems, energy storage and heat powered power cycles. He has obtained grants in excess of £120 million from the EPSRC, EU and industry and published over 650 refereed papers. According to the 2011 analysis, Professor Riffat is named as the author of one of the top 1% most highly cited papers in his field worldwide. Professor Riffat has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Science (DSc) from the University of Oxford for his research contribution in the field of heat pumps and ventilation technology. He is named as the inventor on 30 International Patents. Mardiana Idayu Ahmad received her PhD in Sustainable Energy Technologies at the Department of Architecture and Built Environment, Faculty of Engineering, University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. She is currently the Dean of the School of Industrial Technology and Associate Professor in Environmental Technology, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Her research interests cover a broad spectrum, focusing on sustainable energy technologies and environmental management. She is committed to integrating these fields through her work, which has led to the publication of more than 200 national and international contributions, including journal articles, research books, book chapters, conference papers, and various other scholarly works.  Aliff Shakir earned his PhD in Environmental Technology, with research focused on sustainable materials and energy, biomass recovery, and bio-composites. His expertise spans natural fiber processing, biofuel production, and renewable energy technologies. His work has contributed to several international research collaborations, including projects in marine biotechnology, bioenergy, and sustainable materials. His research bridges the gap between academia and industry, promoting sustainable energy solutions and green materials for low-carbon technologies. He continues to explore innovative approaches to bio-based product development, with a commitment to driving environmentally responsible practices in energy and materials science.
