Sustainability, fairness and prosperity

Overview

Based on feminist analyses of the qualities of the sustainability concept - particularly in light of the Europe 2020 Strategy objectives set out by the European Commission - the search for a (re)productive shaping of society-nature relationships is no easy task. Does the responsibility lie within the economic system? Is humanity's future dependent on nature, or vice versa? Building on this, this work examines the applicability of 21st-century feminist approaches to sustainability concepts, such as those of the Europe 2020 Strategy, and highlights possible parallels between sustainability, feminism and ecology.
