Reviews

""Richard Welsh has clearly established himself as the preeminent scholar on racial inequities in school discipline. In this important book, he uses powerful data to explain the problem, offers root causes of it, and most importantly offers an evidence-based strategic framework to eradicate one of public education's most stubborn issues--racial disparities in school discipline. This book has the ability to radically transform schools.""--Tyrone C. Howard, Pritzker Family Endowed Chair in Education, UCLA ""This insightful and accessible book is essential reading for parents, teachers, school administrators, and researchers concerned about racial inequities in education. It provides practical, optimistic strategies to shift the focus from students to the adults responsible for creating and enforcing discipline policies. With its compelling arguments and actionable insights, this book is poised to become the definitive resource on school discipline for years to come.""--Dominic J. Brewer, dean emeritus and professor of education, economics, and policy, New York University
