Surviving Disasters and Finding Grace is the novel of Karen, a young woman from California, who finds her Iowa family, except for her father, Joseph, and her sister, Grace. How does she find them? Or does she find them? That is the mystery. The Iowa neighbor wants more than friendship as he assists Karen in finding her family. That is the romance. Surviving Disasters and Finding Grace is also science fiction when you define science fiction as fiction based on an imagined future and significant social and environmental changes. The family prepares for an imaginary life without electricity. Are they able to survive in the countryside of the Midwest? A clue to this life is that they learn from their Amish and Mennonite neighbors.
