Author Information

Jim Kilpatrick is a structural engineer, backyard farmer and breeder of prize roses. After completing a degree in structural engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, Jim entered the world of consulting. Always looking for a way to add more quality to life; he has started raising his own chickens. Only after you've tasted the difference between store-bought eggs and home-produced ones, will you appreciate the difference in quality. There's just no comparison really. he says. Jim also enjoys growing his family's own herbs and vegetables. He is a member of his local garden club and often gives talks and workshops on self-sufficiency. Recently he has started a local action group on the subject of bringing quality into the home in various ways. He is passionate about getting families involved in daily beneficial activities, and freely shares his knowledge with those interested in regaining the lost arts of producing quality home-grown food. He believes in doing what you can to improve your life, but to also take things easy! Jim lives in California with his wife, two teenagers, a flock of chickens and a very lazy Dachshund.
