Survival of the Fittest

Overview

Amanda, a teenage girl still reeling from the accidental death of her twin brother years earlier, has found comfort living in a wooded seclusion with her ex-militant father. She has spent the last few years being both daughter and son to him, and learning survivalist, military skills. But as she approaches her 18th birthday, she begins to long for the city life her estranged mother offers. Eager to leave the wilderness behind for a big city adventure, Amanda heads to New York, leaving behind her father, her dog, and everything she's known in life. What she doesn't know is a highly funded, well-trained group of terrorists is going to unleash a biological attack and initiate a city-wide blackout, sending everyone into complete darkness and chaos. Forced to defend her mother's home against looters, Amanda kills the brother of Hector, a vicious gang leader who is determined to exact revenge. Believing that the home is no longer safe, Amanda and her mother flee with the hope of finding safety outside the city. The two soon meet up with Jennifer and Michael, a brother and sister also on the run. As the four set out on a journey of survival, Amanda's father, refusing to wait helplessly for news of another child's death, bravely decides to enter the quarantine area to find his daughter. A war hero, now on the most important mission of his life, he'll stop at nothing to bring her home. With a deadly virus sweeping the city, a bloodthirsty gang in hot pursuit, and the residents in a city-wide blackout... ... Amanda's only hope is to depend on the WILDERNESS survival skills she was forced to learn. As Amanda navigates herself and her mother to safety and fights to reunite with her father, she discovers that her dad's lessons, which she previously thought a waste of time, are possibly life saving, and that the grass is not always greener on the other side.
