Why another book on prayer? After all, there is already a plethora of information and books on prayer. Through the years, I have been bombarded with prayer books, prayer seminars, prayer workshops, instructions on prayer walking, prayer mapping, the 10/40 window-the list is endless. Although I could see tremendous value in the truths contained in all this material, only a handful of people in my church were responding to the prayer concepts put forward. Why was this? This question would eventually lead me to change the way I think and feel about prayer, and eventually write what you will read in this book. A skilled surgeon will take a surgical instrument, like a scalpel, and use it carefully and deliberately in the service of healing. That same scalpel in unskilled hands could cause untold injury and damage. Prayer, just like the smart bomb, when directed with purpose and intent, will always hit the mark, just as the scalpel in the hand of a surgeon will bring about precise and intended results.

Author Information

Tom & Bonnie Deuschle have served the body of Christ from Zimbabwe since 1979. Tom is a respected leader and pastor, having built one of the largest multiracial ministries in southern Africa. Tom Deuschle is also the author of several books. Their organization, Celebrate International houses a family of institutions such as Celebration Churches, Celebration Health, and Compassion Ministries-all advancing the purposes of God's kingdom globally. Tom is known for his teaching on reformation through kingdom influence, which emphasizes that every believer should be involved in taking responsibility in their God-ordained spheres of authority. The Deuschle's place a high priority on family and their five children-Tommy, Jonathan, Benjamin, Daniel, and Sarah-all have active roles in the ministry based in Harare, Zimbabwe.
