Overview

Dr Thein Llaing performed surgery in the Nagaland hills using only a local anaesthetic. He operated on his patients while they were conscious, sometimes asking them to sing or speak. Thus he obtained useful feedback which helped in the operation. He walked from village to village performing hundreds of goiter operations and removing 'bumps and lumps'. This is his story starting 1965. The before and after photos clearly show the results he obtained.
