Overview

In diverse educational settings, supporting English as an Additional Language (EAL) students is critical for college educators. These learners often navigate complex linguistic and cultural landscapes, bringing knowledge of multiple languages frequently underused in academic environments. Embracing multimodality offers a strategy to bridge linguistic gaps and enhance comprehension, expression, and engagement for both students and educators. By utilizing multimodal approaches, colleges can create more inclusive learning environments that value students linguistic identities while empowering educators to adopt responsive, innovative practices. Supporting Polylingual EAL College Readers and Educators Through Multimodality: AI-Powered Quest for Lingua Franca explores how multimodal teaching strategies can support the literacy development and academic success of polylingual EAL college students. It examines how educators can adapt their pedagogical practices to be more inclusive, responsive, and reflective of students diverse linguistic and cultural resources. This book covers topics such as data science, literacy, and inclusive education, and is a useful resource for educators, linguists, academicians, researchers, and scientists.
