OverviewWith the growing interest in healthy foods, the concept of ""superfoods"" is becoming increasingly popular. Superfoods are generally foods originating in exotic countries. They are attributed ""superpowers"" because of their interesting nutritional profiles and beneficial properties for health and well-being. At present, there is no official definition or classification of these foods. Nevertheless, they can be found on the market everywhere, from pharmacies to supermarkets. In this book, we've tried to provide detailed monographs on some of the foods that are widely used today as ""superfoods"", such as spirulina, maca, moringa, chia seeds and red yeast rice, and to verify their various interests and uses. However, it is important to note that these foods are not a substitute for medication. In view of the limitations of certain studies and the sometimes dubious safety profiles, further studies are needed in the future to establish a standardized protocol for use and define an official classification for these foods.
