Reviews

""An excellent book for the elementary classroom. The story offers a vast array of tools and study areas to approach lessons about animals, friendship, and diversity. Super Rooster and Wonder Cat is charming and enjoyable with illustrations that jump off of the page!"" --Haley Bright, Kindergarten Teacher ""I adore Alma Hammond's charming story, leading us from familiar animals to a range of critters less known to children. Science is used to lead the reader and listener alike to becoming better informed while being entertained. I'll share this persuasive storytelling experience chock full of masterful illustrations and clever word crafting with as many little people as I can."" --Kat Haber, Climate Activist, Alaskan Naturalist, WILD Advocate and Board Director ""Diversity in society is more prevalent than ever before. What better way than to start educating children to recognize the skills of others who are different from themselves!"" --Shashank Kansal, father and traveler to nearly 100 countries ""I totally enjoyed this delightful story with its charming illustrations. This tale provides a commentary on the world around us today--to get along like the diverse characters in this story, and respect each other's unique skills and talents. Where differences occur, the story quickly emphasizes the willingness of all characters to live together in peace and harmony."" --Marsha Greenfeld, retired primary school teacher and current Senior Facilitator for the National Network of Partnership Schools at Johns Hopkins University ""Super Rooster and Wonder Cat is an entertaining and insightful story that shows children we all have our own special powers to embrace in others and ourselves. The beautifully illustrated book also introduces children to animals and places they may not be familiar with."" --Frances Keiser, author Pelican Pete series

Author Information

Alma Hammond came up with the idea for this book while on her honeymoon in Bora Bora. Every morning she would witness a cat and rooster playing together on the beach, an unlikely but fun friendship. She also observed many amazing sea creatures at close range. Alma Hammond lives with her husband Bob, two cats Violet and Daisy, and Dog Stazi in Bethesda, Maryland. This is Alma Hammond's first book. Hugh Keiser has been a professional artist working in a variety of mediums for over forty-five years. His award-winning art is displayed in public and private collections around the world. A love and appreciation for art, nature, and children led Hugh to create children's book illustrations. Hugh lives in St. Augustine, Florida, with his wife Frances and three inquisitive cats, Tina, Toby, and Simba.
