I retired after more than 30 years in the travel industry and had always wanted to write a book. One day, going through old photos, I was inspired. I came across a photo of my daughter, dressed up as me in middle school for ""dress as your hero day."" She was already bitten by the travel bug and loved our family trips. Even at an early age, she recognized that traveling made very special memories and travel agents helped make them happen!I earned my Certified Travel Associate certificate at Carlson Travel Academy in 1992. I went to work for Carlson Travel Network, which later became Travel Leaders Network. I loved being a part of the Travel Leaders family all these years and I share so many fond memories with agency owners, managers and our favorite team members at headquarters. The Travel Leaders designation for experienced agents is a Super Agent, and I love that my first book is a nod to my connection to Travel Leaders.Over the decades, I worked in corporate travel, then leisure travel and eventually managed agencies. From the beginning of my career, I had a long-term goal to one day work for one of our amazing travel suppliers. I met that goal when I was hired as a Business Development Manager for a major tour operator/travel wholesaler. I loved mentoring agents and agencies across my territory and the experience of working for a travel industry giant. My final position before retirement gave me the opportunity to mentor thousands of agents across the country as the Director of Operations at WorldVia Travel Network. I enjoyed my time here tremendously, where I earned fun, new nicknames like ""oracle of travel"" and ""master of all things complicated"". During my final weeks before retirement, the entire team was so complimentary of my contributions to the company, which made it truly special to launch my first book, Super Agent, at the annual WorldVia conference the following year. I'm so thrilled to honor travel professionals with this tribute to the travel industry. It feels like the cherry on top of a wonderful career.These days, my husband and I are living the dream, retired to palm trees and warm weather, with our adult kids nearby. I have deeper tan lines than ever, read more books than ever and I'm working on shooting a much lower golf score than ever!
