OverviewThe subject matter of this volume focuses on the realia, musical instruments, and sound objects kept in museums, and their representation. They are part of a musical culture, only apparently lost, by the people to to which they belonged. To understand the significance they had in the ancient world, it is necessary to share multi and interdisciplinary methodologies and perspectives that enable both the appreciation of indicators of activities related to sound, music, and dance in the archaeological record, as well as the contextualized reading of the musical asset as a significant component of the find. The volume is an an innovative example of a dialogue between musicological, archaeological, physical, and engineering disciplines that offers the reader not only a perspective on the music of antiquity and how it was enjoyed and transmission, but a broader cultural perspective, against which to listen in order to understand and value man and the human.
