Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationBorn in Pakistan, author Dr. Ahmad Javid Sarwari Qaderi is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and has been immersed in Sufism most of his life. He is a twelfth generation Sufi who was raised in a traditional religious and spiritual household. Dr.Javid received his medical degree from Khyber Medical College in Peshawar, Pakistan, in 1973. He then received his diplomate in pediatrics from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the University College in Dublin, Ireland. After spending seventeen years in Iran, extensively studying Sufi literature and poetry, he came to the United States in 1993 to finish residency training in pediatrics at Columbia University as a chief resident. Dr. Javid has been conferred with the khirqa (cloak) of the Sarwari Qaderi order of Sufis, and he has published Sufi Light: The Secret of Meditation and The Spirit of a Sultan.
