OverviewAt a time when space for quality journalism seems to be shrinking, there are journalists who still stick to their jobs by reporting and commenting on every development that undermines democracy and the rule of law. Today, attacks on investigative journalism come from all quarters and range from physical assaults to arm-twisting through legal means. He is the author of one book, and has co-authored two with others. His first job as a journalist was with the Press Trust of India in Kolkata (1991). He joined the Telegraph daily in 1994, where he developed an interest in Northeast affairs. He shifted base to New Delhi in 1998, and handled publications and communications for a number of organisations. Subir's last stint in the mainstream media was with the Bengaluru edition of DNA newspaper. Besides his writing interests, he works as a political and environmental risk analyst and editorial consultant with both corporates and voluntary organisations. Paranjoy Guha Thakurta is a journalist, teacher, documentary film-maker and publisher with nearly four decades of work experience. His work cuts across different media: print, radio, television and the internet. He is a consultant with various organisations. He is editor, the Economic and Political Weekly.
