OverviewThe initial project wasn't supposed to be about architecture but rather a revamped, interactive website for the Space Needle, designed to counteract declining visitor appreciation. The Century Project at the Space Needle by Olson Kundig, however, reestablishes the beloved tower as a forward-looking symbol of Seattle. The renovated tower is a marvel of architecture and engineering, and pushes the boundaries of what is possible. The revamped structure gives a new perspective on the changing urban landscape while preserving views of the familiar mountains and waterways that surround Seattle. This compelling narrative takes you behind the scenes of how the work was achieved. AUTHOR: Olson Kundig began its creative existence in 1966 with the architect Jim Olson, whose work at that time centered on explorations of the relationship between dwellings and the landscapes they inhabit. Over the five decades of its existence, the firm has grown and broadened its expertise far beyond the residences for which it is still best known. The geographical scope of the work has grown to cover more than 15 countries on five continents. The firm is led by 14 principal/owners who are supported by a team of over 250 in both Seattle and New York. SELLING POINTS: .
