The unique, audio-focused method in Subliminal Spanish is designed to efflciently employ both sides of the student's brain for quick and long-lasting results. This research-based program targets the analytical left side of the brain responsible for language processing. How it works: Using stereo headphones, the student hears the Spanish word presented in the right ear, while the English word is presented simultaneously in the left ear at a lower volume. By hearing the Spanish in the right ear, the word is processed by the left side of the brain, which helps to reinforce the storage of the unfamiliar foreign word. The word is repeated a second time with Spanish presented in both ears. There is a pause after each recitation that allows the student to speak aloud, providing both practice of the foreign sounds and further reinforcement of the new vocabulary. Subliminal Spanish contains 3 75-minute audio CDs, which is divided into short lessons allowing the student to move at an individual pace. The vocabulary is organized thematically and presented in groups of ten words - an optimum number for efficient learning. After each vocabulary set is presented three times, the student performs a self-test to ensure that the vocabulary has been learned. This multi-sensory approach - listening, speaking, reading, and writing - facilitates learning and encourages maximum retention of new Spanish vocabulary. This program also includes short dialogs, which allow the reader to hear the new vocabulary in context.
