Overview

As a citizen of the world, I shared in the upheaval of the Covid-19 pandemic. More to the point, I watched my young grandson as he went through the many changes that were thrust on us all. Back in 2020 when the lockdowns began, Matrim was four years old. I soon realized, that he was just as sad, confused and scared as the rest of us, but unlike us, he lacked the words to describe what his feelings were and where they came from. It was then that I wrote a poem called ""STUPID COVID"". The poem has now been turned into a book whose purpose is to allow parents and young children to start conversations about the different feelings brought on by the pandemic. Then, most importantly, we learn how we can regain some control over our lives by following healthy habits such as proper hand washing and masking when necessary, as well as the role of vaccines in freeing us from the grip of STUPID COVID.

The author watched her four year old grandson and his friends as their childhoods were transformed by the lockdown and the limitations that ensued. STUPID COVID gives words to the feelings of the youngest members of our society, and though it describes some uncomfortable emotions, it winds up by showing kids how they can have some positive control over their own health, allowing them to enter ""a brand new day.""
