Overview

Where can a child look when their world is nothing but darkness? When Stumpy looked out across his little mountain top, all he could see was darkness. Everyone was sad. They only thought of themselves. They forgot how to love each other. They needed to learn that love must be patient and kind. They needed to stop being jealous of all the other goats. They had to learn not to be arrogant and brag about themselves. Who wants to hear someone brag about themselves all day? They needed to learn not to lie and refuse to engage in bad behavior. They had to get out of their depression and bigotry. The darkness was about to overtake the whole mountainside, and Stumpy was afraid they would never be happy again.

Chris Babbitt is a wife, mother, and grandmother. Several years ago, Chris recognized that there was so much more children could learn to help them get through hard times. Chris worked in a psychiatric children's hospital and as a case manager for foster children. Many of these children had no hope, and they had no idea where to turn. Chris, with God's gentle nudging, created the story of a little goat who could teach them. It is Chris's desire that this story of inspiration will empower children around the globe to learn where their hope comes from as they navigate the hard times.
