Overview

The book Studying in Nalanda Volume I attempts to explain the curriculum and syllabus of Nalanda university. Nalanda followed a holistic approach to education. Students were taught different subjects. The culture of books was well developed. A great library which had many books in a written format was at the center of the institution. In many ways, Nalanda contributed to the development of education, science, medicine, philosophy as well as the preservation of books in ancient times. It introduced writing into the lives of students as opposed to the oral tradition. The students Prasannashila and others commence their education in this volume. It is thus a sequel to Journey to Nalanda Volume II.
