Overview
Kristy Balliet and Brennan Buck are architects and have both worked as assistants to Greg Lynn. This is their 'visual catalog' of the Lynn Studio's work over the last five years. It is a project-based visual catalog of design innovations that were created with Lynn's students. Each chapter describes an exactly defined formal, aesthetic or atmospheric building block and its cultural context. The descriptions comprise introductions, reference images, theoretical contributions and the student's projects for the studio. The Visual Catalog offers a unique insight into Greg Lynn's design and teaching practice. Since the 1990s, Lynn has been considered the pioneer of a new generation of architects whose primary tool are computers. Wolf D. Prix, geboren 1942, studierte Architektur an der Technischen Universitat in Wien, an der Architectural Association in London und am Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) in Los Angeles. Er ist einer der Grunder von COOP HIMMEL(L)AU. Prix ist seit 1993 ordentlicher Professor fur Architektur und seit 2003 Vorstand am Institut fur Architektur der Universitat fur angewandte Kunst. Greg Lynn, geboren 1964, studierte Architektur und Philosophie an der University of Ohio sowie an der Princeton University. Er arbeitete unter anderem bei Architekt Peter Eisenman bis er 1994 sein eigenes Buro auGreg Lynn FORM"" grundet. Lynn gilt als Vorreiter der so genannten auBlob-Architektur"" und unterrichtete unter anderem an der ETH in Zurich und an der Universitat fur angewandte Kunst in Wien. Kristy Balliet ist Architektin und praktiziert in Philadelphia und Wien. Sie ist Mitbegrunderin und Koordinatorin der auSilver Lecture and Gallery Series"" an der Angewandten und Assistenzprofessorin bei Greg Lynn. Brennan Buck ist Architekt und Landschaftsarchitekt und wohnt in New York. Er arbeitete u.a. bei Neil M. Denari Architects und Johnston Marklee & Associates in Los Angeles. Er hatte zahlreiche Lehrauftrage und ist derzeit Assistenzprofessor bei Greg Lynn.
