Overview

E.C.Rosenow joined the mayo Foundation in 1915, where he served as head of experimental bacteriology for 3 decades. Rosenow's definitive studies of the 1918-1919 influenza-pneumonia pandemic included a half-million Mayo survey responses, indicating his anti-pneumonia vaccines were more effective than the best ones in use today. And his vaccine methodology continued to improve over the years. In summary, its attributes: - one vaccine for both influenza and pneumonia; - huge quantities can be produced with 48 hours; - huge cost savings in research and production; - avoiding allergies to chicken-egg vaccines; - availability of an oral vaccine method; - exposed the cause of seasonality of epidemics; - the pandemic vaccine was viable for epidemics for years.
