OverviewThe Neighborhood is an online learning platform designed to enhance nursing education, distributed by Pearson Health Science. The Neighborhood presents unfolding stories about a virtual community populated by diverse characters - including families, nurses and physicians. The Neighborhood also includes institutions representing various health care settings, and a weekly Neighborhood newspaper. The interrelated character stories, enhanced with video clips, photos, biographical information, and medical records, reflect the health care issues and illnesses represented in a typical population, as reported by the CDC. This longitudinal case study crosses the entire nursing curriculum, and is designed to be used by instructors in any course or course type to allow students to more easily connect what they are learning with patient experience.
