Overview

A luxurious gift edition of the classic book of iconic illustrated cautionary tales Struwwelpeter has been a favourite of children and parents all over the world since its first publication in 1845. Rediscover these wildly inventive cautionary tales, which have inspired popular culture for generations! Meet Shock-headed Peter, Conrad Suck-a-Thumb, Harriet and the Matches, Johnny Head-in-Air, Fidgety Philip, Augustus Who Would Not Eat His Soup and many more … and discover the unfortunate – and always imaginative – fates that befall them! Widely acknowledged as one of the most popular and influential children’s books ever written, Struwwelpeter has been translated into at least forty languages, and inspired countless contemporary interpretations, including Edward Scissorhands. Mark Twain produced a translation, and renown children’s writer Maurice Sendak described it as “one of the most beautiful books in the world”. This new hardback gift edition includes the original artwork, as well as new content about the author and the book’s original publication.
