Author Information

Lisa Rene� Pitts is an accomplished actress in theater, film, and television, appearing in The Practice, The Shield, and Law & Order. A native New Yorker, she holds a BFA in theater arts from Rutgers University and resides in Burbank, California. Prentice Onayemi is an Earphones Award-winning audiobook narrator and a voice and film actor who is known for his roles in The Steam-Room Crooner, AmeriQua, and as Joey in the Tony Award-winning play War Horse. Tonya Bolden has authored/edited/co-authored more than ten books, among which are 33 Things Every Girl Should Know, And Not Afraid to Dare: The Stories of Ten African American Women, and Strong Men Keep Coming: The Book of African American Men. She lives in New York City. Cokie Roberts (1943-2019) was an American journalist, a political commentator, senior news analyst, and bestselling author. She had been cited as one of the fifty greatest women in the history of broadcasting by the American Women in Radio and Television.She won the Edward R. Murrow Award, the Everett McKinley Dirksen Award for coverage of Congress, and a 1991 Emmy Award for her contribution to Who Is Ross Perot? In 2000, she won the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism. She and her mother, Lindy, won the Foremother Award from the National Center for Health Research in 2013. She was inducted into the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame in 2000.
