Overview

Our world is broken, but do not be overwhelmed. God has provided everything you need to live what you believe. You hold a match to strike against earth's rough surface that will spark a chain reaction and bring you into God's circular flow of love and provision. If you ever feel abandoned or reach for faith and can't find it, praise God. It is the spark that lights a bonfire of faith that God has already been placed inside you. When you make praise a daily habit, your life is transformed through intimate relationship with God. The Holy Spirit encourages you and turns your disastrous circumstances into invitations to hold God's hand and step forward in the flow of His power and authority. Strike the Match is a 6-week Bible study that will help you live a faith-filled life, which begins with a small spark of praise. The fire of your faith flares up, and interior barriers such as guilt, fear, or pain burn away. Together, praise and faith trigger the next sequence in the chain reaction-the powerful weapon of prayer. These three are building blocks of a relationship between God the Father and His children and heirs-that means you. He releases His power in answer to your prayers. You are battle-ready! Filled with Holy Spirit power and authority (Acts 1:8), you can overcome evil. However, you can't fight the good fight from the bleacher seats. So, put on the armor of God, and jump into action in faith and prayer! As your relationship with God grows, you will move from mere head knowledge to actively living your faith. When you make a habit of looping through the chain reaction, you will live as a Word and Spirit overcomer on earth and for eternity to come. Strike the Match illustrates each link in the chain reaction with true stories, both Biblical and modern-day accounts. Two chapters are dedicated to a thorough Scriptural investigation and to help you learn to live what you believe. Discovery-based questions promote discussion and encourage deeper exploration. Strike the Match is designed for use as a group study or by individuals and offers six short videos to introduce each link in the chain.

Reviews

What encourages me about this book entitled, Strike the Match, are the stories told within it. Why? The stories shared are true, for I know the story tellers and am mindful of the challenges they have faced as they sought to strike the match of faith through what is called the chain reaction of praise. I was encouraged and strengthened as I reflected upon words thoughtfully written. I pray you will be too. Kevin Korver, Senior Pastor, Third Church, Pella, IA If you don't want your spiritual life transformed, then put this book down and walk away! When Keith Korver first introduced our local gathering of Jesus followers to the simple spiritual blueprint that is now unpacked for everyone in Strike the Match, I do not exaggerate in stating that it has been life-changing for both my wife and me. Every crisis, adversity, obstacle, failure, trial, and difficulty we have experienced since digesting the contents of this book has immediately become for us a chain reaction of praise moment. Each time, we return to the simple, yet profound, principles contained in this book. Instead of getting mired in fear, worry, and anxiety, we immediately strike the match of praise and begin the active faith journey into the power of prayer, overcoming evil, and maturing toward the full realization of our true and eternal position in Christ. Tom Vander Well, President & CEO at Intelligentics and prolific Wayfarer blogger and podcaster Faith doesn't keep us out of trouble nor does it prevent bad things from happening, but it does help us get through them. But what do you do when your faith seems to drift away? In Strike the Match, authors Kathleen Evenhouse and Keith Korver provide thoughtful ideas for getting through hard times and help make sense in a world gone crazy. Dirk Wierenga, Author, Documentary Filmmaker, and Photographer We live in a world that seems to be moving faster and faster with what seems like new twists and turns at every corner. Kathleen helps us to capture how we can navigate a challenging world through our faith in Jesus. I love how she takes the reader through those stories of the past and shows that they still apply today. When we stay full of faith, pray regularly, and praise the Father at every corner, things just don't seem as difficult. This book is a 'must read' for those of us who are trying to make sense out of this life while being obedient to what God has for us. Jayson Henry, CEO at The Well, Offering Help and Hope

Keith Korver actively pursues his passion for mentoring and developing lay leaders to love, serve, and bless others for the Kingdom of God. As the Leadership Development Pastor at Third Church in Pella, Iowa, Keith leads the growth and execution of deep discipleship opportunities by providing theological and practical pathways to train/deploy/evaluate future commissioned pastors.
