OverviewThe demand and consumption of plastic in various consumer oriented activities is increasing day by day. However, safe disposal of plastic produced by postconsumer activities are the major problem in present scenario as these are non-biodegradable. To look forward to mitigate these challenges, one of the ways is to utilize the plastics in concrete composites as one of the ingredients. In this work, the experimental work has been carried out on specimens prepared by M25 grad of concrete. The experimental program includes addition of macro sized fibres of metalized plastic film in different proportions like 0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5% and 2%. To carry out development of stress-strain curve, the guidelines given in IS: 516-1959 are followed. For every test thee specimens are evaluated. Moreover, to determine the stress-strain curves, total 6 RCC beams with different reinforcement like balanced, under reinforced and over reinforced have been prepared and tested. The objective of the experimental work is to compare the stress-strain curves of the new material with the curves of conventional concrete and to check the feasibility of utilization of metalized postconsumer plastic wastes.
