Author Information

Joan Barstow Hernandez was born and grew up in the United States. She became a Baha'i during college, and immediately after graduating went pioneering, serving for nineteen years in Guatemala before moving to Bolivia in 1990, where she began her work with Nur University. During the 18 years she was at Nur, she is most known for her work in Moral Leadership. Transformative Leadership, the English version of the core text in this program, has been translated into four languages and used in workshops around the world. Ms. Hernandez is the author or co-author of more than twenty books related to the Baha'i Faith, family life, education, leadership and socio-economic development. To complement her writing, each year she facilitates numerous workshops, both at Nur and throughout the world.
