OverviewChildhood vaccination is a major public health intervention to prevent avoidable diseases and reduce child mortality. Despite global progress, vaccination coverage remains insufficient in Chad, exposing many unvaccinated or under-vaccinated children to persistent epidemics such as measles. The Kyabé health district illustrates this situation with performance levels below the national average. This study analyzed the determinants of low childhood vaccination coverage and proposed strategies adapted to the local context. A descriptive cross-sectional study conducted in 2024 combined a survey of 15 health centers with the analysis of routine vaccination data. The results show partial implementation of outreach strategies, access difficulties in remote areas, and a high dropout rate for the pentavalent vaccine between the first and third doses. Strengthening human resources, community-based vaccination, and community awareness is essential for sustainably improving vaccination coverage in Kyabé.
