He obtained his academic degrees in international economics and political science at the University of Geneva, Switzerland and Gdansk, Poland. He also taught and researched at the Universities of Michigan and Illinois. He currently teaches at Syracuse University on issues related to the post-Soviet space and the Middle East. His publications include, among other, Unholy Land. In Search of Hope in Israel/Palestine (2016) and The East-European Borderland (2009, in French). His extensive travel includes Eurasia and the Middle East. He is fluent in English, French, Italian, Polish and Russian.
