Strands of Blood: Life, Family, Bleeding, Redemption

Overview

I have had a wonderful life filled with wonderful people, careers, and adventures. Like older people, I tend to tell stories. These are family stories: being a son, brother, uncle, dad, father, and PawPaw. They are stories about work: being an engineer, a physician, a soldier, a researcher, a professor, and a company executive. They are stories about relationships: with people and the Almighty. Some stories are humorous, while others are not, but all have taught me valuable lessons about life. Looking back, I can see God's hand in my life. He often took me to places I did not want to go, but in every case, it was a place I needed to be. Other times, when I tried to make a change on my own, He would make me wait. During those times, I realized there was unfinished work to be done. With the urging of family and friends, I have gradually collected some of these stories. While sitting in church one Sunday pondering how I could put these stories together to make them worth reading, I heard a clear message saying, ""If you ever want those stories to have meaning, you must look for Me in them."" That is what I have tried to do here. Some of these stories make me laugh, and some make me cry. Laughter is good medicine, but tears tell you that you are speaking of something or someone significant to you. Someone or something that you love. Nothing brings tears like a broken heart. I have been a recorder of events for most of my adult life, and the following stories come from those journals and from the stories I have told my family and friends (and anyone else who would listen).
