What is God Doing Today? He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. The characters in these stories never expected God to reach them in such personal ways, but He satisfied their yearning, and they loved Him for it. In ""The Gifted Doctor I,"" a young Swedish doctor's world is rocked by the near loss of his fiancée in 1870s Kansas. God uses his fiancée, a physician, and God's Word to win his heart. God is an ever-present help in times of trouble. In ""Nearer My God to Thee,"" a husband is drawn closer to his wife after the sinking of the Titanic left its mark on him.

Charles Dean Johnson, Jr. grew up in the heart of Kansas, fishing and hunting on the weekends, and listening to stories about his Swedish ancestors.One summer in college, he worked with inner-city youth and felt God's calling to continue after graduation. He moved to Houston, Texas, became a teacher, taught in the inner city, sponsored high school Christian clubs, and led mission trips to Mexico. He speaks Spanish.
