OverviewStories from the Hearts of Harmony features uplifting stories of harmony, hope and happiness from families of developmentally delayed adults who participate in performing arts activities in a creative, nurturing environment. The Harmony Theater, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, provides performance opportunities as an avenue for social interaction and self-expression. Their two yearly events including a Fall Concert that features the vocal talents of our participants and a Spring Musical which combines the actors' acting, vocal, and dancing abilities. Choral concerts and musical theater productions enhance the lives of adults with developmental delays. The Harmony Theater family helps build friendships, assists in their transition into adult social life, and the development of life skills.Personal tales from the actors themselves, their parents and siblings, and from staff that have had the privilege to work with and get to know both actors and their families. Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationCynthia 'Cindy' Louden developed, taught and directed the North Penn High School Theatre program for 40 years, having produced almost 100 plays and musicals. For 15 years, she was also an Adjunct Theatre and Speech Professor at Penn State University's-Fogelsville Campus, Gwynedd Mercy University, and Montgomery County Community College. Retiring from high school and college teaching in 2005, Cindy entered the volunteering phase of her life to re-pay all the many parents and friends who had volunteered for her theatre programs, and also to give back for the wonderful blessings of her daughter. Formerly the Chair during its formation, Cindy now volunteers as a member of the Harmony Theater Inc. Board, which serves a 55-member, non-profit theatre program for adults with special needs. At Pearl S. Buck International, she chairs the Fundraising Special Events Committee & Community Projects for the Volunteer Association. Cindy co-founded the Pearl S. Buck Writing Center in 2010 and more than 400 students of all ages and writing levels have participated in its writing conferences, workshops, and critique guilds. The Center began a blog www.psbwritingcenter.org, and publishes a biannual Literary Journal. However, Cindy is proudest of being the mother of an adopted Chinese daughter, now a senior honors Nutrition Major at Penn State University.
