Trucking in the 80s was a rough and tumble boys-only industry that wasn't accustomed to women drivers. If a woman drove professionally, she usually partnered with her husband or boyfriend. Patty Adams, an American female truck driver, began her truck driving career in 1985 at the age of 26. It was a time when female truckers were virtually unheard of.
