Overview

Decluttering our homes can be difficult. Letting go of things can be challenging. Living with less seems impossible. With wit and tough love, Stop Buying Bins seeks to break down the obstacles that tether us to our possessions. Why do we hold onto belongings that no longer serve us? How do we change our perspective regarding our things? And once we've tackled those questions, how do we go about actually downsizing our clutter? Told through individual client stories, Stop Buying Bins reveals the personality traits that create resistance to letting go, flips the switch on assigning value to objects, and provides step-by-step instructions on how to decide what goes and what to do with it. Stop Buying Bins will have you coming to terms with some hard truths about your stuff as you realize you'll enjoy what you have more if you have less.

Author Information

Bonnie Borromeo Tomlinson, a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, has held positions as a senior national media buyer, museum store manager/buyer, and giftware/home decor account manager, in addition to being principal of Bonnie Lia Interiors, a home organizing and interior decorating firm. Her varied work experience has given her a unique perspective in the home organizing arena-the belief that lifestyle must take precedence over precision. Born and raised in New Jersey, and having resided in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC, for the last twenty-two years, Bonnie recently moved back to Amherst along with her daughter, a college student, and her yellow lab. Stop Buying Bins is her first published work. Carrie Coello appeared in her first play at age seven, as a cranky, middle-aged fortune teller. Ever since, she's sought out characters that enlighten, entertain, and hold a mirror up to the human condition. After spending a decade working in film, and another decade educating children, she's come full circle as a performer, narrating audiobooks from her Seattle studio. She collaborates with authors and publishers to bring flesh and blood to words on the page, with humor and a deep understanding of what makes people tick. Carrie draws upon her own lived experience to portray lesbian and bisexual protagonists under the pseudonym Lois Ridge. As a practicing Atheopagan, she brings authenticity to books featuring pagans, witches, and earth-based spirituality. There's a special place in her heart for the amateur sleuth, the small-town hero who pulls herself up by her bootstraps, and the teenager struggling to make sense of herself and the world around her. Let's tell her story together.
