OverviewWhile we marvel at trees and plants, at nature's vitality and growth, we also treasure the longevity of rocks and stones. We feel a sense of eternity among mountains, handling stones on the beach, or wandering the desert or high plains. Time seems to stand still. In Stones of the Earth, Tomas Micek's images show us geology at its most awe-inspiring. Taking in the shapes, sizes and colours of these diverse environments and monoliths, we feel both enlivened and calmed. Many of the rocks and their settings feel like they could be found objects and scenes of the soul, pulled up from its shadowy or vivid depths and presented to us by Micek with his camera. Two hundred and twenty-nine rich colour photographs show us rocks and their formations in many varied environments across the earth. Concise descriptive texts in English, German and Czech introduce each set of images, giving light geological explanations, and inset maps show locations.
