Martin Zenck ist Professor i.R. am Institut für Musikforschung der Universität Würzburg mit den Schwerpunkten Neue Musik und Ästhetik. 2013 erhielt er den Hans-Zender-Musikpreis für musikwissenschaftliche Publizistik und hatte im im selben Jahr eine Gastprofessur an der University of Chicago inne. 2017 war er Guest Fellow am Getty-Research Institut in L.A. Er ist Autor wegweisender Bücher über Pierre Boulez (2017) und den exilierten Komponisten und Pianisten Eduard Steuermann (2022, zus. mit Volker Rülke).
