Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationDeputy Chief Frank Viscuso is a 20-year veteran of the fire service and a tour commander in one of the most densely populated counties in the country. He is a certified level 2 NJ fire instructor, public speaker, and a writer of books, screenplays, and articles. His first book, Common Valor, True Stories from New Jersey’s Bravest, was published in 2003. He has since become a regular contributor to Fire Engineering Magazine and FireOpsOnline.com. Frank is a successful grant writer and was instrumental in helping his department acquire millions of dollars in grant money. He has also developed more than 50 SOPs (GOGs) and has served as his department's training officer for 10 years. In 1995, Frank was selected as the Kearny Firefighter of the Year and received the medal of valour for rescuing a man from nearly drowning in the Passaic River. In 2001, he was selected as the Hudson County Italian/American Firefighter of the Year. Frank has received degrees from the University of Charleston, West Virginia and Jersey City State College.
