OverviewSteel Town is a collection of 25 stories based about the people in the North West Durham area of Consett. Some stories are associated with one particular family who had seven daughters and one son. The problems that arose because of this mix, fall out due to incidents that occurred through illicit sex. Soliciting with the allies during World War 2 and the aftermath, which split families forever. A picture of an ideal life, working at a satellite department of major local employer - the steelworks. Where the only way out was to leave and start a new life, or unless like Hotel California there was no way out and you continued working. There are also stories concerning an individual's lifetime growing up in the local environment through marriage and beyond, social comment on events that occur in modern society up to contemporary times, and the effect of high tech on low tech brains.
