OverviewThe Sandham Memorial Chapel in Burghclere, Hampshire is widely upheld as one of the greatest war monuments of the twentieth century, built to house Stanley Spencer's celebrated mural cycle in honour of the forgotten dead of the First World War. Throughout 2014 Spencer's murals, which have been permanently displayed inside the chapel since its completion in 1932, will be removed for restoration. Pallant House Gallery will present the complete cycle of predella and lunette mural paintings as part of an exhibition of paintings and drawings organised in collaboration with the National Trust.
