Stan Lee was a legendary American comics writer and editor and theformer president and chairman of Marvel Comics. He conceived morebillion-dollar franchises than any other creator. He was the writer of the Spider-Mansyndicated newspaper strip, which appears in more than 500 newspapers worldwide, making it the longest-running superhero strip. Lee pioneered thehow-to-draw comics category with the 1978 publication of the bestselling How toDraw Comics the Marvel Way and went on to author three other books oncomics creation. He was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 2008.
