OverviewMula dam is the oldest earthen type dam located at Baragaon Nandur across Mula River, Tal. Rahuri, district Ahmednagar (M.S.). Its location is 19.3293° N, 74.5296° E. The dam has a catchment area of 2274 Sq. Kms and gross storage capacity 736,320.00 km3. It supplies water to most parts of the city. It even supplies water for industrial, irrigational, recreation, and domestic purposes. Hence Mula dam is considered as the lifeline of Ahmednagar district. The dam was constructed in the year 1972. On an urgent basis, there is a need to check the stability of the dam to measure the seismic effect on the hydraulic structures. Using the Swedish slip circle method, stability analysis of upstream slope and downstream slope, analysis of hydraulic components such as spillway, stilling basin, canals were carried out.
