In high school, he participated in pole vaulting and he also ran cross country. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1979) and Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut School of Law (1987). After college and before attending law school, Russ taught high school and also coached track and cross country. He has taught at New England Law - Boston since 1991, and specializes in Sports Law, along with Intellectual Property, and Legal History. He is also an accomplished writer, having published seven books and over 40 law review articles. Jack P. Sahl is the Joseph G. Miller Professor of Law and the Faculty Director of the Miller-Becker Center for Professional Responsibility at the University of Akron School of Law. He earned his BA from Boston College, his JD from Vermont Law School, and an L.LM. from Yale Law School. He has played many different sports, including NCAA Division I soccer. Professor Sahl has advised agents, managers, and athletes. He has served as Akron's Alternate NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative since 2002 and has also been a member of Akron's Faculty Senate's Athletic Committee since 1999. He has taught sports law for over thirty years, and has also taught evidence, professional responsibility, and entertainment law, among other subjects.
