Reviews

""In this rousing, expertly layered story set in the northern grit of Minnesota, Trondson has crafted a novel somewhere between the meticulous blue-collar eye of Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska album and the loveable losers seen in a Coen Brothers movie. Sport & Leisure is full of losers and fighters, problems and promises, and serves up laughs to accompany a reflection on loss and love."" -Todd Smith, author of Hockey Strong: Stories of Sacrifice from Inside the NHL ""A page turner... realistic, thought-provoking... a novel steeped in a vivid sense of place and culture... women confront men, men confront themselves and each other, and life goes on."" -Midwest Book Review

Author Information

Tom Trondson's debut novel, Moving in Stereo, was the winner of the American Writing Awards 2022 Sports Book of the Year. His work has been featured in Glimmer Train, The Under Review, and elsewhere. He holds an MFA from Hamline University, where he's taught creative writing. Twenty-five years ago, before it was cool or trendy, he was a stay-at-home dad, something he wouldn't change for the world. Recently, he and his buddies cycled a Tour de France segment, the famed Colle Dell'Agnello, a category one climb that travels from a small village to the mountains above the treeline. He has lived in six states but now calls the lakes and woods of Minnesota his home.
