Sport in Contemporary Society forces students to think about issues they may never have been exposed to before and serves as a springboard for excellent class discussions. --Jennifer Lukow, High Point University The book does an excellent job of presenting issues in the academic study of sports from a sociological perspective. It gives a very wide range of perspectives, both in terms of issues and authors. Students will enjoy both the subject matter (whether or not they care about sports) and the writing styles.
