Overview

This pack consists of over 70 word searches and crosswords to aid the teaching of spelling and literacy. All the worksheets are based on the DfES spelling bank. The worksheets can be used in the Literacy hour, given as homework or used as ""early morning jobs"" at the start of the school day. Several of these worksheets come in pairs, consisting of a one-word search and one crossword. It often works to photocopy these two activities back-to-back. Both tasks are based on the same set of words, so the crosswords can be used for more able pupils. One suggestion is to allow pupils to do the word search first, and then match the clue with the answer. Answers are included for all worksheets. Pass the spelling section for the 11+
